I am someone who will shamelessly clone if it helps me in improving my life. Derek Sivers has had a huge impact on me. He writes short and succinct actionable ideas that act as directives. I thought it makes sense for me to create my own set of directives while mostly cloning from the Derek and others.

How To Thrive In An Unknowable Future

  1. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
  2. Expect disaster
  3. Hold enough cash and buy enough insurance
  4. Own as little as possible (I am hopelessly failing here)
  5. Choose opportunity, not loyalty
  6. Choose the plan with most options

How To Live Longer

  1. Exercise everyday
  2. Avoid sugar
  3. Stand more than you sit every day
  4. Fast frequently
  5. Sleep at-least 7-8 hours
  6. Avoid addiction – smoking, alcohol, drugs
  7. Get your body checked up frequently

How To Live Miserably

  1. Play status games.
  2. Seek your immediate desires.
  3. Never have enough money in the bank.
  4. Focus on short term vs long term.
  5. You buy everything instead of renting.
  6. You disregard simple financial advice.

How To Mess Up Your Finances

  1. Spend more than you earn.
  2. Borrow to pay for your expenses.
  3. Avoid insurance.
  4. Speculate vs. invest.
  5. Never learn the basics of personal finance.
